Late chargeback vs the clawback window

How to run thisTraffic4 steps
CalculatorLate CB vs clawback window · Calculator lives in the articleOpen

The network credited the conversion. Days later a primary chargeback posts. The only question that matters is whether CB day − convert day still sits inside the written clawback window. We invent no “typical 45 days.”

Pair: Late CB vs clawback window on Traffic. Writing the clause: affiliate clawback. Naming the hot partner: chargeback rate by cut.

What you type

CPA $ — what you paid (or accrued) on that conversion.

Convert day and chargeback day — day indexes on the same calendar (order day = 0, or absolute day numbers from your export). Same scale for both.

Clawback window (days) — from the insertion order or network terms. Blank hope is not a window.

Keep vs reverse

Inside the window (lag ≤ window) → reverse the CPA against the next payout (or invoice if they are gone). Send ARN, reason code, order id.

Outside the window → the partner keeps the CPA under that clause. You can still ask; that is a favor, not a deduction right.

Same day → reverse. The clock did not help them.

Do not blend “the program is fine” into one partner’s late CB. Do not invent a window because Everflow / MaxWeb-class UIs show a default filter. Do not skip matching the order id to the publisher that was paid.

What this is not

Not the IO checklist. Not probation. Not cookie-stuffing detection. Not chargeback-rate-by-cut partner ranking.

Related: Traffic, affiliate clawback, affiliate probation, chargeback rate by cut, Chargebacks.

Procedure

  1. Type CPA paid on that conversion.
  2. Type convert day and CB day on the same calendar scale.
  3. Type the written window from the IO.
  4. Reverse inside the window; outside is a favor, not a right.

Failure modes

  • Inventing a typical window because a network UI shows a filter default.
  • Reversing outside the written window without partner agreement.
  • Skipping order-id match to the publisher that was paid.
  • Treating silent alert-refunds as clawback triggers.

Worked example

None on this page yet. When one lands it will be a real case: what broke, the number, and what changed. Not a composite.

Glossary

Clawback window
Days after convert in the insertion order during which a matched primary CB lets you reverse the CPA. We do not invent the number.

FAQ

Is this the insertion-order clawback checklist?
No. [Put a clawback in the insertion order](/manuals/affiliate-clawback) writes the clause. This page asks whether a late CB still sits inside that window.
What if the IO has no window?
You cannot reverse by math. After the fact is a favor. Write the window before the first payout.
Do alert refunds count?
Only if the clause says so. Silent IOs let partners call an alert refund “CS,” not a clawback trigger.
