Order Insight
Order Insight is Visa / Verifi. The cardholder or issuer asks what this charge is. You return the descriptor they saw, the SKU, delivery, and a way to get help. A clear answer can stop a dispute from being filed at all.
Pair: Order Insight.
This is an inquiry, usually before CDRN and before a chargeback. It is not a refund-or-die alert. If the inquiry fails, CDRN or a Visa CB can still follow. Path fork: inquiry vs alert.
Cost is often bundled in a Verifi / reseller monthly plus per-inquiry or per-outcome fees. Confirm the invoice; it is not a Visa public price list.
The payload is the product. If Order Insight returns a legal entity the cardholder never saw, you have explained nothing. Descriptor on the MID, DBA, tracking, last-four, SKU, CS number. When the descriptor changes, update OI the same day.
Not CDRN. Not 3DS. Prior sales on a Visa 10.4 packet are a different job: Compelling Evidence 3.0: two prior transactions.
Procedure
- Enroll the Visa MID.
- Map descriptor, DBA, SKU, tracking, CS path into the OI payload.
- When the DBA or descriptor changes, update OI the same day.
- Use OI to stop ‘I don’t recognize this.’ Use CDRN when the issuer is already filing.
Failure modes
- Returning a legal entity name the cardholder never saw.
- Empty tracking / SKU fields.
- Treating OI as a refund alert like CDRN.
Worked example
None on this page yet. When one lands it will be a real case: what broke, the number, and what changed. Not a composite.
