Shoot the unit before it leaves the dock
Pre-ship photos are how you show the unit left the warehouse intact and correct. They help damage and not-as-described packets. They do not win not-received without a delivery scan. Inventing a “photo always wins” rule is how CS overpromises.
Pair: Pre-ship photo checklist on Chargebacks. Damage vs NR fork: damaged / lost vs NR. Delivery scan: WISMO. Family packs: evidence by reason.
What to capture
Order identity on or next to the unit — order id / barcode that ties to the shipment.
SKU / variant visible — color, size, kit contents if that is the claim risk.
Pack condition — sealed or sealed-in-box state before carrier handoff.
Timestamp near label print — same day as ship, not a stock photo from last quarter.
What not to do
Do not paste pre-ship photos into a pure not-received fight and skip the scan. Do not invent a universal “photo win rate.” Do not use a generic shelf image as order proof. Do not skip this on high-NAS SKUs and then wonder why listing fights fail.

Procedure
- Capture order id, SKU/variant, pack condition, timestamp.
- Store photos with the order before handoff.
- On damage / NAS — attach the matching set.
- On not-received — open wismo-tracking for the scan gate.
Failure modes
- Using shelf stock photos as order proof.
- Pasting photos into NR and skipping the delivery scan.
- Inventing a universal photo win-rate chip.
- No retrievable storage with the order record.
Worked example
None on this page yet. When one lands it will be a real case: what broke, the number, and what changed. Not a composite.

FAQ
- Do pre-ship photos win every damage claim?
- No. They help when the claim is crush or wrong item and the photos match the SKU and ship date. They do not replace a delivery scan on not-received.
- Is a phone snap in the warehouse enough?
- Only if you can prove which order it is — SKU, order id, and time near label print. A random shelf photo is theater.
- Is this the damaged-in-transit page?
- No. [Damaged / lost vs NR](/manuals/damaged-in-transit-vs-nr) is the fork. This page is the photo checklist before the unit leaves.
