The 3PL DIM line is not the carrier DIM
A ShipMonk-class invoice prints a DIM / billable line. The carrier invoice may disagree. The scale is a third number. Contribution that uses only the 3PL line invents freight.
Pair: 3PL DIM vs carrier on Stock. Formula: dimensional weight. Accessorial: residential surcharge.
What you type
3PL DIM $ — freight line the warehouse billed for this parcel / sample window.
Carrier DIM $ — what the carrier billable weight charged (or would have).
Scale $ — charge if actual weight had won.
The calculator names which book is fattest and 3PL − carrier. Gaps are packaging, rating, or pass-through markup — not a blog divisor.
What not to do
Do not invent a DIM divisor here. Do not average cartons so a hero SKU looks cheap. Do not mix duties into the freight line — DDP vs DDU. Do not skip recon when the 3PL marks up carrier.

Worked example
None on this page yet. When one lands it will be a real case: what broke, the number, and what changed. Not a composite.

FAQ
- Is this dimensional weight?
- Related. [Dimensional weight](/manuals/dimensional-weight) is how carriers pick billable pounds. This page recon three dollar books after the invoice.
- Can I invent a DIM divisor?
- No. Type the dollars on this parcel. Divisors stay on the formula page, typed from the contract.
- Is residential surcharge in this number?
- No. [Residential surcharge](/manuals/residential-surcharge) is a different accessorial line.
