Auth is not settled cash
Auth $ minus settled $ is the open gap. Gap $ = auth − settled. Type both.
Pair: Auth vs settle gap on Payments. Batch clock: settlement batch lag. Capture hold: capture vs auth amount.
What you type
Auth $ — authorized / presentment dollars in the window (same currency as the statement).
Settled $ — dollars that actually settled in that same window.
Gap $ = auth − settled. Fund working capital or chase rejects when the gap is fat — do not invent a gap chip.
What not to do
Do not invent gap $. Do not mix reserve holds into the auth−settle gap without splitting. Do not treat capture as settle. Do not ignore FX when presentment ≠ settlement currency (FX settlement).
