A statement credit is not a chargeback reversal
A merchant refund undoes a sale you chose to reverse. A chargeback debit is the bank taking the sale. A chargeback reversal is the sale amount coming back after you win. An RDR credit is a rule accepting liability. Same ARN in a portal does not make those lines the same job.

How to read the lines
Open the processor statement for the case. Match the ARN. Name the line before CS refunds “to be safe.” Cash stages (auth, capture, settle, bank) sit on sold vs settled. Helpdesk store credit vs card refund sits on store credit vs refund.
What not to do
Do not call a refund a CB win. Do not refund again after a reversal posts. Do not treat RDR credit as representment victory.

Procedure
- Open the statement for the case ARN.
- Name the line: refund, CB debit, CB reversal, or RDR.
- Match it to the portal case before touching the card again.
- Do not stack a second credit on a reversal.
Failure modes
- Calling a merchant refund a CB win.
- Refunding again after a CB reversal already posted.
- Mixing RDR credit with representment reversal.

- No. A refund is your reverse. A CB reversal is money returned after a won fight.
- Can I refund again if I see a credit after a chargeback?
- Not until you name the line. A reversal already put the sale back. Stacking CS credit is a second gift.
