Marketplace refund gravity vs your threshold

How to run thisRefunds3 steps
CalculatorMarketplace refund gravity · Calculator lives in the articleOpen

Marketplace networks watch offer refund share. Gravity is refund $ ÷ sales $ on that offer. Cross your written threshold and the listing dies — often before the affiliate dashboard paints red. Type refund $, sales $, and threshold %.

Pair: Marketplace refund gravity on Refunds. Payout timing: marketplace payout lag. Blended refund lag: lag MER.

What you type

Refund $ — marketplace-credited refunds on the offer in the window.

Sales $ — marketplace sales $ for the same offer and window (the denominator they use, not CRM billed).

Threshold % — the written kill / watch line (network or your ops note).

Refund % = refunds ÷ sales. At risk when refund % ≥ threshold. Used of threshold = refund % ÷ threshold. Pull the offer before inventing a “normal” gravity.

What not to do

Do not invent a category refund rate. Do not mix CRM refunds into the marketplace sales denominator. Do not wait for a network email after you already crossed the written line. Do not treat payout lag as refund gravity.

Related: Refunds, marketplace payout lag, lag MER, refund window.

Procedure

  1. Type marketplace refund $ and sales $ for the offer window.
  2. Type the written threshold %.
  3. Pull the offer when at risk.

Failure modes

  • Inventing a category refund rate.
  • Mixing CRM refunds into the marketplace sales denominator.
  • Waiting for a network email after the written line is crossed.

Worked example

None on this page yet. When one lands it will be a real case: what broke, the number, and what changed. Not a composite.
