ShipBob ASN promise is not sellable inventory

How to run thisStock / inventory3 steps
CalculatorShipBob inbound ASN variance · Calculator lives in the articleOpen

On a ShipBob inbound receipt, the ASN count is only a promise. Received minus damaged is sellable. Shortfall ÷ ASN × 100 is SB ASN variance %. Enter all three.

Pair: Inbound ASN variance on Stock. Fullstack sibling: Fullstack ASN. ShipMonk sibling: ShipMonk ASN.

What you enter

ASN units — expected units on that ShipBob inbound ASN / PO line.

Received — gross units ShipBob accepted at the dock for that receipt.

Damaged — accepted units ShipBob tagged damaged / unsellable on that same receipt.

Sellable = received − damaged. Shortfall = ASN − sellable. When SB ASN variance % is material, chase the vendor or the ShipBob dock seat — leave blank chips alone.

Hard stops

Leave SB ASN variance % blank rather than invent. Keep Fullstack and ShipMonk receive rows out of ShipBob boxes. Keep ASN out of on-hand cover math. Keep damaged in the shortfall when received looks complete.

Related: Stock, Fullstack ASN, ShipMonk ASN, receiving is not sellable.

Procedure

  1. Type ASN units, received, and damaged.
  2. Read SB ASN variance %.
  3. Chase vendor or dock when SB ASN variance % is material.

Failure modes

  • Inventing SB ASN variance %.
  • Dumping Fullstack or ShipMonk receive rows into ShipBob boxes.
  • Treating ASN as on-hand cover.

Worked example

None on this page yet. When one lands it will be a real case: what broke, the number, and what changed. Not a composite.

FAQ

Is this Fullstack inbound ASN variance?
Different 3PL dock. [Inbound ASN variance](/manuals/fullstack-inbound-asn-variance) stays on Fullstack. ASN / received / damaged never leave ShipBob here.
Is this ShipMonk inbound ASN variance?
Separate 3PL book. [Inbound ASN variance](/manuals/shipmonk-inbound-asn-variance) stays on ShipMonk. ShipBob owns every count here.
What SB ASN variance % should I invent?
None. Pull ASN, received, and damaged from the same ShipBob receive report.
