CalculatorShipBob returns restock lag · Calculator lives in the articleOpen

On one ShipBob FC restock window, return units sit out of sellable for restock days while demand/day continues. Lag demand = restock days × demand/day. SB restock cover gap = max(0, lag demand − return units).

Pair: Returns restock lag on Stock. ShipMonk twin: restock lag. Rate twin: restock-back.

What you type

Return units — ShipBob return units still in restock (not yet sellable) in the window.

Restock days — Written restock lag days for that ShipBob FC window.

Demand / day — Sellable demand units per day against that same SKU / FC cut.

SB restock cover gap = max(0, restock days × demand/day − return units). A fat SB restock cover gap usually means putaway lag at that FC — chase that station; never invent an SB restock cover-gap chip.

What not to do

Skip inventing an SB restock cover gap. Skip dumping a ShipMonk restock-lag export into ShipBob fields. Skip folding restock-back % or damage-claim counts into cover-gap fields. Skip blending FCs when one FC owns the stuck returns pile.

Related: Stock, ShipMonk restock lag, restock-back, receiving is not sellable.

Procedure

  1. Type return units, restock days, and demand/day.
  2. Read SB restock cover gap.
  3. Chase FC restock putaway when SB restock cover gap is material.

Failure modes

  • Inventing an SB restock cover gap.
  • Dumping a ShipMonk restock-lag file into ShipBob fields.
  • Folding restock-back % counts into cover-gap fields.

Worked example

None on this page yet. When one lands it will be a real case: what broke, the number, and what changed. Not a composite.

FAQ

Is this ShipMonk returns restock lag?
Different 3PL book. [Returns restock lag](/manuals/shipmonk-returns-restock-lag) prices ShipMonk return units stuck vs demand. Here both counts stay on one ShipBob FC restock window.
Is this ShipBob returns-restock rate?
Percent restocked vs cover gap. [Returns-restock rate](/manuals/shipbob-returns-restock-rate) is restocked ÷ received. This page prices lag demand against return units still in restock.
What SB restock cover gap should I invent?
None. Type return units, restock lag days, and demand units per day from the same ShipBob restock window.
